An adventure in illustration

Inspired by childhood memories of whimsical story books brought to life by captivating illustration, the Villa Nova studio have collaborated with three talented children’s picture book illustrators; Frann Preston-Gannon, Christopher Corr and Yuval Zommer to recreate the joy of children’s books in an enchanting collection of fun fabrics, wallcoverings and accessories bursting with wondrous creatures and scenes from far away places.

Chapter 1

Frann Preston-Gannon is a London based illustrator and designer. Her first picture book, The Journey Home, was published in October 2012 and was shortlisted for both the Waterstones Children's Prize and the Cambridgeshire 'Read it Again' Book Prize. Frann was also the first UK recipient of the Sendak Fellowship in 2011.

With a unique style that is visually spectacular, Frann’s illustrations can be described as a digital collage that is created by layering textures and colours. An attention to detail and obsession to create overall textures enhances each scene adding vibrancy to the subject matter. Frann’s animals have an endearing quality that sparks an immediate fondness for them.

Chapter 2

Be dazzled by colour and illustrations that are so detailed they are a constant source of intrigue. A graduate of London’s Royal College of Art, Christopher Corr’s work is about joy, colour and a love of life. He takes a great deal of inspiration from his global travels.

In fact, his love of cities is reflected in his work, in particular ones where old meets new. Chris creates astounding imagery of scenes from around the world, and crazy, complex cityscapes. He enjoys architecture, all the way from stone huts through to modernist structures. Chris works in gouaches, painting on handmade papers as though he’s using a pen.

Chapter 3

Yuval Zommer graduated from London’s Royal College of Art with an MA in Illustration. After working as a creative director at a leading advertising agency, his passion for picture books won out and he is now the author and illustrator of several highly acclaimed children’s books.

Embark on a discovery of the tiniest details of the smallest life forms in the natural world with Yuval’s playful drawings. These beautiful and incredibly intricate illustrations have a detail like no other with a hand drawn element and layering of pattern that simply invites curiosity. Yuval’s tiny creatures and animals have expressive faces with every hair, tiny wing and whisker painstakingly drawn to create endless fascination.
